Color Negative film had been in common use since the mid 20th century, and has only in the last few decades fallen out of favor of professionals outside of the art world. With the increasing sophistication of digital photographic technology, there is little room for it outside of creative endeavors. Today most photographers shy away from shooting and printing with it because of the additional knowledge, equipment, time, and effort required to achieve satisfactory images.
